The phenomenal American Idol now begins its quest for the next singing superstar.

Thousands of hopefuls lined up outside Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego CA to join the audition for the seventh  season of “American Idol” Monday July 30. Would-be contestants began to line up at 3 a.m just to register for their wristbands to get into the tryouts. The producers and executives of the show expect more than 10,000 people to show up for their chance at stardom and they expect to trim the contestants down to between 300 and 500 for the second round.

Six more audtions are to be held in the following cities:

Dallas, TX: Monday, Aug. 6 at Texas Stadium
Omaha, NE: Friday, Aug. 10 at Qwest Center
Atlanta, GA : Tuesday, Aug. 14 at Georgia Dome
Charleston, SC: Saturday, Aug. 18 at North Charleston Coliseum
Miami, FL: Wednesday, Aug. 22 at AmericanAirlines Arena
Philadelphia, PA : Monday, Aug. 27 at Wachovia Center
