Hong Kong-based columnist-broadcaster who labeled the Philippines as a “nation of servants,” Chip Tsao has finally issued a public apology last Tuesday night which was aired at ATV’s 7:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts.

Here is an excerpt from Chip Tsao’s interview at ATV:

“The “servant” is a good term. A Hong Kong government official is a civil servant. We are all servants to God, right? I’m now aware that I’ve crossed the line and I offer my public apology. The article was never intended to be insulting to the Filipino domestic workers. Has anyone been deeply upset, it was never my intention and I feel sorry.”

Despite Chip Tsao’s public apology, the Filipino community in Hong Kong will still push through with their protest on Sunday against his offensive remarks about Filipinos in his article in HK Magazine.
