Classes in all levels in Metro Manila and eight provinces in Luzon are suspended due to rains brought by Super Typhoon Egay Friday (August 17).

Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr said during a late night press conference at the Pagasa office that classes in the provinces of Rizal, Zambales, Bataan, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro are also suspended upon the recommendation of the Department of National Defense and the National Disaster Coordinating Council.
