Pangasinan Representative Jose de Venecia has been re-elected as the Speaker of the 14th Congress for an unprecedented fifth term.

De Venecia was nominated by Cebu Representative Antonio Cuenco which was then seconded by Samar Representative Sharee Ann Tan. 159 legislators voted for De Venecia in the lower chamber while no one nominated his rival Cebu Representative Pablo Garcia.

San Juan Representative Ronaldo Zamora on the other hand has been elected as House minority floor leader after the congressmen allowed the members of the opposition to vote for the minority leader among themselves.
