MORE ADVERTISERS CANCELLED THEIR COMMERCIAL PLUG- IN COMMITTMENT IN THE UPCOMING PACQUIAO- DE LA HOYA FIGHT THIS DECEMBER 6.
ACCORDING TO SOURCES, MORE COMMERCIALS IN THE FIGHT SLOT WILL CAUSE VIEWERS TO BECOME UNINTERESTED WITH THE COMMERCIALS. JUST WHAT HAPPENED IN THE LAST FIGHT WITH MARQUEZ EARLY THIS YEAR.
INSTEAD, WHAT THE GMA NETWORK MANAGEMENT MAKES MOVE IS LOWERING ITS COMMERCIAL RATE SO THAT MORE ADVERTISERS WILL ATTRACT THE UPCOMING FIGHT.
MORE VIEWERS PREFERRED TO WATCH IN PAY PER VIEW BASIS THAN AIRING DELAYED TELECAST.

An estimated crowd of 16,000 thronged the Dubai Festival City to watch Rakrakan 2008.
Thousands throng DFC for Rakrakan

Dubai: Thousands of fans flocked to the Dubai Festival City on Friday to watch four of the Philippines’ biggest names in rock perform in what could be described as a Philippine Woodstock in Dubai.
The atmosphere was super charged, with an estimated crowd of 16,000—double last year’s figure—gathering for a nostalgia-fest of sorts with Pupil, Kamikazee, The Dawn and Bamboo. Outside the entrance, hundreds more were still waiting for a chance to buy tickets.
The Pupil, with frontman Ely Buendia, opened the show at 6:30pm. It was enough to get the music started, but some fans in the crowd said they wished Buendia was more engaging.
The singer had refrained from addressing the audience in between performances; leaving it to his band mates to do the talking.
Kamikazee entered the stage next, with lead singer Jay Contreras his usual animated self; talking to the crowd about his personal experiences in between performances.
The crowd roared with approval as the band sang hit songs Narda, Seksi! Seksi! (Sexy), Ambisyoso (Ambitious) and Chinelas (Slippers) among others.
Contreras, who revealed he is marrying his long-time partner in January, said he was dedicating the night’s performance to his son. “I have to be a good role model,” he told the crowd.
Next came The Dawn, the longest surviving Filipino rock band and dubbed by many as the Rolling Stones of the Philippines. Of course there is no comparison as The Dawn, which rose to fame in the late 1980s, have an entirely unique sound of their own.
Frontman Jett Pangan thanked the crowd for the warm welcome, saying it was their first time to perform in Dubai.
Many sang along as the band belted out their immortal hits Enveloped Ideas and Salamat (Thank you) among others.
During a break, Pangan took out his digital SLR camera and took photos of the crowd. “You’ll see these pictures on our Friendster and Facebook!” he told the crowd, grinning.
Last but not least came Bamboo. As expected, lead singer Bamboo Mañalac and the band sang their hit songs Noypi (street word for Pinoy, which is slang for Filipino), Tatsulok (Triangle) among others.
Mañalac did not disappoint with impressive vocals and some extra dance moves on stage. Fans also got more than what they paid for with Mañalac going off stage to mingle with the crowd up close and personal.
On the big screen, an excited female fan shrieked after she stole a kiss on the singer’s cheeks—making the rest of the crowd laugh good naturedly!
Bamboo ended the concert with their hit song Himala (Miracle). And indeed it was, with the unexpected sea of people, the weather and the songs all blending together for a night of great rock.
Of course the trek back to the parking area or taxi stands was another story. At past 1am, hundreds of people were still lining up for a taxi outside Dubai Festival City Mall. Many were still talking about the concert and wearing their black Rakrakan t-shirts, with the words imprinted on the back: “I came. I saw. I rocked!”
Where you at the concert? What did you like or didn’t like? Share your experiences here.

I saw. I rocked!”

This kind of event unites all the people of Philipines who live in the UAE. I was surprised there were so many of them!
