Kaya para hindi mapahiya ang mga kababayan nating stars, ipinamigay, yes as in free na ang tickets sa said show! Kawawa naman yung mga nag-purchase! Magiging free show na lang pala ito.

Flop daw ang Wowowee show ni Willie Revillame sa San Diego, California, USA. Reklamo ng maraming kababayan natin doon na gustong manood ng palabas ay masyado raw mahal ang tiket.
Sabi pa ng mga tumawag sa aking mga kaibigan at kamag-anak sa California ay mahal daw masyado yung mahigit sa $100 na sinisingil nila. Eh yung mga concerts ng mga may pangalang singers hindi raw lumalampas ng $40, bakit naman daw sobrang doble ang sinisingil ng grupo ni Willie?

We�ve had a rude awakening,” said Gabby Lopez, ABS-CBN Chairman and CEO.
After several months in what a therapist might call the denial stage, ABS-CBN now admits openly that it is no longer No. 1 in the ratings in Mega Manila. Of course, the Lopez network still claims to be ahead nationwide or more accurately in Cebu, Dagupan and Davao; but everyone knows that it�s the Manila numbers that really count. And the Manila numbers leave no room for doubt. For the first quarter of 2005, ABS-CBN had an audience share of only 34%, while GMA-7 had 46%.
Late last year, the Kapamilya station could still say that it controlled the all-important primetime TV viewing block. Then, in what seemed like a matter of weeks, ABS-CBN�s ratings collapsed. GMA-7 literally swept the field, took over the top position in every time slot throughout the day and night, and became the first new overall ratings champ in a generation.
In broadcast and advertising circles, there is a general agreement that ABS-CBN did three things extremely well over the years: First, they copied other people�s ideas, but made them better. Second, they pirated the best shows and the best people. Third, they crushed everybody else.
Let�s say, for example, that a competitor had produced a variety show that was beginning to attract viewers. ABS-CBN would immediately launch a bigger variety show with glitzier sets, grander production numbers and more hosts. If the competition had a singer who was getting praise, ABS-CBN would offer to triple her talent fee. Finally, it would never be enough to just edge out the competing show in the ratings.
ABS-CBN made sure that its lead was overwhelming. Never give an inch! Take no prisoners! Total victory! These were the battlecries that you imagined ABS-CBN employees heard from their leaders every day. It didn�t matter what types of shows were involved�dramas, sitcoms, children�s shows, news and public affairs. The same three ploys worked over and over again. What could be copied was improved upon. What couldn�t be copied was pirated. Whatever was left of the enemy was destroyed by any and all means.
Like many other companies ruled by fluctuating share prices, ABS-CBN become more conscious of short-term financial results and embarked on cost-cutting campaigns. At first, the cuts were facetious�sorry no more fresh flowers in the executive offices and reuse your plastic cups please�but later, they began to cut, not just fat, but meat and bone.
The older, more established and more expensive artistas were let go or alienated. Those who were retained had package deals that ensured that viewers would see them over and over again to the point of satiety. The number of shooting days per episode was reduced. Promo spots that would have looked great on film were done on video.
At the same time, Channel 2 strayed from its traditional three-part formula. Take the case of “Extra Challenge” which GMA-7 used to establish a beachhead in primetime. ABS-CBN never deigned to produce a clone of the show even when it had become clear that the celebrity Fear Factor format was going to be a monster hit. Nor did ABS pursue Paolo Bediones or Miriam Quiambao or Ethel Booba in the way that it went after, say, Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda a decade earlier.
Speaking of “24 Oras,” the continued success of Mike Enriquez represents another example of the failure to properly implement the standard ABS-CBN strategy. The Lopez network successfully enticed Karen Davila to move over; but she was never the top anchor of GMA-7. That honor belonged to Mike Enriquez, whose unique appearance and style is not clone-able.
ABS-CBN�s next option was to pirate him; but although meetings reportedly took place, ABS-CBN apparently balked at offering him an amount of money that would make him jump ship. The last recourse is to attack Enriquez; thus far, however, complaints filed against him have not prospered.
Yet another example involves Michael V. and “Bitoy�s Funniest Videos.” ABS-CBN�s “Vid-Joking” was a copy but not an improvement. Mark Logan is no Michael V. And though the latter was available, ABS-CBN did not get him. The list goes on.

Late last year, the Kapamilya station could still say that it controlled the all-important primetime TV viewing block. Then, in what seemed like a matter of weeks, ABS-CBN s ratings collapsed. GMA-7 literally swept the field, took over the top position in every time slot throughout the day and night, and became the first new overall ratings champ in a generation.

-On the other hand, in a separate ERC decision also released Tuesday, Meralco was ordered to refund consumers the excess Currency Exchange Rate Adjustment (CERA) billed to consumers, amounting to P3.9 billion.
The ERC decision said Meralco billed consumers a total of P7 billion under the CERA, when the company should only have charged a total of P4 billion.
Meralco was ordered to refund the P3 billion excess CERA, plus a fine of P900 million.
The electric distributor will immediately implement the refund – P0.14 per kWh – in the next billing cycle.

In broadcast and advertising circles, there is a general agreement that ABS-CBN did three things extremely well over the years: First, they copied other people’s ideas, but made them better. Second, they pirated the best shows and the best people. Third, they crushed everybody else.
Let’s say, for example, that a competitor had produced a variety show that was beginning to attract viewers. ABS-CBN would immediately launch a bigger variety show with glitzier sets, grander production numbers and more hosts. If the competition had a singer who was getting praise, ABS-CBN would offer to triple her talent fee. Finally, it would never be enough to just edge out the competing show in the ratings.
It didn’t matter what types of shows were involved-dramas, sitcoms, children’s shows, news and public affairs. The same three ploys worked over and over again. What could be copied was improved upon. What couldn’t be copied was pirated. Whatever was left of the enemy was destroyed by any and all means.
Like many other companies ruled by fluctuating share prices, ABS-CBN become more conscious of short-term financial results and embarked on cost-cutting campaigns. At first, the cuts were facetious sorry no more fresh flowers in the executive offices and reuse your plastic cups please but later, they began to cut, not just fat, but meat and bone.
At the same time, Channel 2 strayed from its traditional three-part formula. Take the case of “Extra Challenge” which GMA-7 used to establish a beachhead in primetime. ABS-CBN never deigned to produce a clone of the show even when it had become clear that the celebrity Fear Factor format was going to be a monster hit. Nor did ABS pursue Paolo Bediones or Miriam Quiambao or Ethel Booba in the way that it went after, say, Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda a decade earlier.
Finally, ABS-CBN hesitated to pit its strongest programs against the upstart reality show. Instead, “Extra Challenge” became the programming tentpole that pulled up the ratings of “24 Oras” and “Mulawin.”
Speaking of “24 Oras,” the continued success of Mike Enriquez represents another example of the failure to properly implement the standard ABS-CBN strategy. The Lopez network successfully enticed Karen Davila to move over; but she was never the top anchor of GMA-7. That honor belonged to Mike Enriquez, whose unique appearance and style is not clone-able.
ABS-CBN’s next option was to pirate him; but although meetings reportedly took place, ABS-CBN apparently balked at offering him an amount of money that would make him jump ship. The last recourse is to attack Enriquez; thus far, however, complaints filed against him have not prospered.
Yet another example involves Michael V. and “Bitoy’s Funniest Videos.” ABS-CBN’s “Vid-Joking” was a copy but not an improvement. Mark Logan is no Michael V. And though the latter was available, ABS-CBN did not get him. The list goes on.

-Lopez-owned ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. expects to post a higher income in the second quarter this year mainly from domestic operations, as it sees an improvement in its primetime ratings in Metro Manila.
ABS-CBN chairman and president Eugenio Lopez III said the network is confident of sustaining its gains in the second quarter on higher contributions from its flagship business, Channel 2, and continued implementation of cost-cutting measures.
The network reported a net profit of P121 million for the period from January to March this year, a reversal of the P132-million loss incurred in the same period a year ago. Gross revenues also grew 14 percent to P3.95 billion, driven by license fees from DirecTV and higher airtime revenues.
The significant turnaround in ABS-CBN’s financial performance in the first quarter this year was attributed to a “more judicious production cost spending and a lower cost base brought about by 2005’s headcount optimization.”
ABS-CBN generated P80 million in savings from its manpower reduction program in the first quarter. The manpower reduction program is expected to lead to cost savings of about P300 million this year, roughly the same as last year.

TWO HUNDRED more employees of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. are going to lose their jobs between, casualties of the network giant’s strategy to cut cost and to regain its lead.
“We plan to terminate 20 percent of our workforce by September or early October,” “This is part of our restructuring to cut cost.”
Alejandro said the company had laid off 150 employees so far. It had also reduced by half the number of its management officers, from 12 to six. The Lopez-owned network said it would save P350 million a year from the salaries of the employees to be fired. The savings compare with the retirement benefits, expected to cost about P500 million, that the company will have to provide. The benefits will be financed from the proceeds of a new deal struck by its profitable global unit.

Media conglomerate ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. said it has secured a P3-billion term loan facility for its expansion.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, ABS-CBN said the second tranche of the loan amounting to P2 billion was signed yesterday while the first tranche was signed last Aug. 15
ABS-CBN has set aside P1.6 billion this year for the continued expansion of its facilities as it aims “to restore leadership in TV ratings in Metro Manila.”

A Court of Appeals (CA) justice plans to file bribery, perjury and libel charges against a businessman allegedly brokering for the Manila Electric Co.
De Borja was the mysterious Meralco emissary that Sabio alleged offered him P10 million to let go of the chairmanship of the appellate court’s 9th division, which was handling the Meralco case.
At the school’s lobby, Sabio said De Borja told him that the P10 million was ready and bragged that Meralco chairman Manuel ‘Manolo’ Lopez was with him when he called up.

ABS siguro ang mas malakas sa advertisement kasi mas mataas ang ads revenue nila dba.. kun paramihan parang marami lang ng konti sa GMA pero kasi nga mas mahal sa ABS.. pero pareho ko namn nakikita un commercials sa parehong network.. cguro ryt now third palang ang TV5 kasi bago palang ang station dba.. cguro dey are still testing the water..
