Nielsen Research says ABS-CBN is the preferred station

Nielsen defined the affluent as those living in posh, “gated villages” with income higher than P50,000 a month, while the teens are those in the 13-19 age bracket regardless of the economic bracket. OFW beneficiaries, meanwhile, are those with a member of the family working abroad.
The research was conducted through personal interviews, and is limited to urban areas.

Mr. Lhong, mag-aral ka muna bago ka magsalita. Hindi “eMy” ang tawag sa EMMY. Tangi ka ba talaga? Ganyan ang napapala ng mga nanonood sa ABS-CBN. Manood ka naman ng Second Avenue, HBO, Star etc para may matutunan ka. Nakahiya sa ibang bansa at sa mga may pinag-aralan.

I don’t give a rat’s a$$ if ABS-CBN wins the ratings game. I just hate Korina with a passion. She is a real *unt as far as I am concerned. She makes me wanna vomit. I’d rather watch all-American shows, CNN, BBC, and other American-oriented channels since any Filipino-produced TV show just dumb down the viewers.

Wow! This really proves it. Majority of the Filipinos have either poor taste or do not know what’s really good for them. Thank goodness for satellite TV, I can pick up channels in the US. GMA, ABS-CBN, NO THANKS and NO WAY will I be caught dead watching their garbage.

i was a field researcher of ac nielsen research co…. thats true abs-cbn is the number one station in the phils.we surveyed all over the phils even the remote areas we really get their ideas and opinions about the 2 big networks that we had here in the phils….

PARA SA MGA NAG-COMMENT against sa Dos, wag kau manood kung ayaw niyo! WHO do you think you are? HINDI PO malulugi ang Dos kahit di kau manood. In short, DI KAU KAWALAN! I HAVE NOTHING against Syete. I do watch both networks. Pasalamat tau at least may dalawang networks na malakas ang dating. EH ung ibang bansa nga jan wala man lang kahit ni isang tv network. Oh at least ang Pinas, nano-nominate internationally. Ngayon, kung “nasusuka” KA man sa network na ayaw mo, mag-migrate ka dun sa lugar kung saan pinamumugaran ng mga paborito mong shows. eh pano ba naman hndi pa kc masyadong naco2ver ng gma ang ibang country. thats why magtanong-tanong ka sa mmga pinoy na nasa ibangbansa kung alam ba nila ang ISTASYON NG GMA. siguradong “MA” ang sagot as in malay. dahil wala clng alam kundi ang ABS dahil yun lang naman ang nag-iisang pinoy channel dun.
at ang ibang pinoy na bagong salta sa ibang bansa na may alam na about GMA na gustong magpakabit eh hindi nila magawa kasi wala pa sa lugar nila. no choice cla eh kailangan nila ng libangan para hindi mahomesick masyado. so magpa2kabit sila ng pinoy tv. isa yan sa advantage ng ABS.

Imbes na magsiraan,magsabotahe ng kung anuman at maghilaan tayo ng rating pababa ay itaas natin ang ratings ng ating pagkamakabansa at pakikipagkapwa-tao. F.Y.I. Isa akong Kapamilya ng mga Kapuso at totoong Kapuso ako ng mga Kapamilya! Favorite numbers ko ay 1,2, at 7. Tangkilikin sana at ipagmalaki ang sariling atin! Yung ayaw manood, wag pipilitin, it’s their right to watch and choose any channel or programs. And certainly, hindi magiging kawalan sa anumang istasyon na nabanggit kung di man sila manonood! What matter is that they are all entertained to relax from a tiring work in office or in school, either in the Philippines or Abroad! Korni na kung Korni! Cheap na kung Cheap! Anyway, this impression is just a creation of their minds! Mas ok pa nga yung mga networks na ito dahil napapakinabangan at napapalawak nila imaginations ng mga Pinoy! Kesa maghaluccinate using drugs and bad vices. Alam ko na medyo nahuhuli tayo sa effects and development sa sequencing ng mga kuwento pero sana naman igalang din natin ang pinaghirapan at karapatan ng Iba! I do watch also any cable channels and shows pero sa mga Pinoy na simple lang ang pamumuhay ay sapat na ang maka-avail ng 2 channels na ito. At ang lamang, mas nauunawaan at pinapanood nila ito dahil Pinoy na Pinoy ang dating. Minsan nagfafranchise ng Reality Shows pero Pinoy Version naman, ok pa rin sakin! Tayo kasing mga Pinoy, minsan may pagkamakakalimutin! Makatikim lang ng galing sa ibang bansa akala mo kung sino na at ano na ang narating! Well, opinyon ko rin naman ito pero kung gusto niyo talagang magbanghayan, bahala kayo! Pero, payo ko lang…wag kayong masyadong Couch Potato! Ang TV ay libangan lang po at pinagkukunan ng aral at impormasyon, kung sobra ay nakakasama rin! Para talaga umasenso tayo, ay magbasa tayo ng mga libro, diyaryo, magazine, komiks or any reading materials na may katuturan at makakatulong sa pag-unlad ng ating bansa! Mag-aral at magtrabaho nang mabuti para pamarisan ng mga kabataan! Hindi panay tambay, tulog-kain at TV na lang inaatupag! Be Pinoy and Godly in our hearts, minds and souls!

abs-cbn, who cares? I watch AXN, Lifestyle, HBO, Discovery, C/S, Jack, BBC, CNN, Star, ESPN, Showtime, the Travel Channel to name a few. I just find the programming at these channels more entertaining, informative, and educational. I just can’t stand it when I see all the Filipino programs in either GMA or ABS-CBN specially the soaps which have the same style since way back when. And it’s all about some diva or some bad-a$$ idi*t trying to ruin someone’s day. I’m not simple nor a simpleton to buy into that crap. Spare me that. Half of the programming found in American TV are like that to a certain extent so why should I bother to look at crappier shows. I don’t see the point of the heckling here. Are you guys so not fully evolved yet to have such an immature attitude? No wonder our country is into such a deep doo-doo becoz of people like you! It is people like you that make me not proud to be a Filipino. Get a freakin’ life. And if there is any doubt of my disloyalty towards the two leading channels here, here, let me say it out loud: ABS-CBN SUCKS! GMA SUCKS! THERE! They can both go off the air for all I care and I won’t miss them a tiny bit.

Art, how can you say to patronize our own TV shows? They are all crappy. When they start to have some semblance of intelligence, substance, maturity and quality, then I would patronize them. And these ratings just reward mediocrity. In the meantime, I would not waste my time getting bored or irritated by watching those shows, which are better spent on reading books and online contents. It is your right to waste your time on those shows and be entertained by them and it is also my right to shun them. So I don’t get these petty and silly bickerings between fans of abs-cbn and gma. These people need some serious attitude adjustment.

Firstly, someone said ABS-CBN won an EMMY!
CORRECTION: They DID NOT WIN AN EMMY. They were nominated ONLY. Which I admit is pretty good. But why do people say they WON???!! Is it so hard to read the newspaper once in a while and digest its contents? And these people, who are so out of tune with reality, who do not read much that are the ones who are so proud, so vocal, so loud and so repulsive. How can people who are so un-educated have the audacity to be that way?
Secondly, someone referred to Emmy as “EMY”. Maybe he was thinking of EMU.
CORRECTION: It is EMMY, believe it or not. I cannot believe that these people even know how to operate a computer. They should be compelled to get a license first to use the computer so stupid stuff like that don’t get propagated for eternity in the internet and result in more racial slurs against Filipinos as being idiots and uneducated. They should also be required to get a license to reproduce. I would hate to think that they would breed more of their kind. Think of the damage that could do to our gene pool.
Thirdly, the ratings do not refer to the ratings taken for the whole PHILIPPINES!

One more thing. When I was in the US (for over 25 years), the local cable/satellite operators/providers only offer ABS-CBN programs. I didn’t know about GMA until I got here. So is it any wonder why ABS-CBN is number one among overseas Pinoys? WOW! That is something to be proud about? That’s like having a candidate run against a ghost.
Fourthly, it is not possible to get TV ratings that’ll cover the whole Philippines.
CORRECTION: Remember the NBN-ZTE scandal? One contention against that project was the whole nation cannot possibly benefit from this project becoz there is still a good part of the nation that do not have electricity. As of September 2004, a total of 38,350 out of the 41,945 barangays (villages) in the country had been electrified. The DOE presents a case that 100% of barangays will have energy, at some level, by the end of 2008. It is still 2007 and there are still over 1000 barangays, by recent survey, still not having electricity. So to claim that the ratings cover the whole Philippines is utterly idiotic, unless those people in those unenergized barangays are using telepathy to view TV.

Basta ang alam ko dito sa Middle East parehong may GMA Pinoy TV at ABS CBN TFc at hindi masasabing nag-iisa lamang ang ABS kaya walang choice. tapatan dito at ang 2 networks at mostly if not all OFW’s prefer ABS CBN TFC. Some tried to switch to GMA Pinoy pero nagsisi kasi walang variety at nakakaatok mga palabas at mga artista. Kaya para sa aming majority ng OFW mas prefer namin ang TFC kahit ang mga pamilya naming nariyan sa Pinas. Malapit sa puso namin ang ABS kaya we support their welfare programs like Bantay Bata.Tama ang survey at agree kami dyan. Sa mga kanguso sa inyo na ang metro Manila pero sa buong Pilipnas at sa mga puso naming OFW KAPAMILYA kami. Hindi puedeng ipagpalit ang PAMILYA pero ang puso puedeng palitan di ba????

When the first Nielsen ratings came out, those ABS-CBN fans protested that Nielsen is not telling the truth becoz GMA had the highest ratings and some of their fans also said that Nielsen is a shady ratings service that should not be trusted. NOW suddenly the ABS-CBN fans are embracing the Nielsen service with open arms and hailing it as a legitimate authority. What a fast turnaround and hypocrisy on the part of the ABS-CBN fans. hehehe….You know people, if you do not want to be slammed by more educated Filipinos for being silly and fighting with each other (ABS-CBN & GMA fans), you should just stop and be act mature. You created this thread and started heckling and bitching about the people who oppose your opinion. People who do not like the two networks have their opinion too so why are you slamming them. I happen to share their views about the mediocrity of the programming of both top networks. If someone didn’t start making repulsive comments, no one would have followed suit. We have already established Mr. Lhong is an idiot so I don’t understand why anyone would emulate him. Stop it already. Having taste is not being ma-sosyal. It is a state of mind and it is a matter of breeding. If you like ABS, fine. If you like GMA, fine. No one is perfect after all. Just keep quiet about it and don’t tell a GMA fan that their network sucks becoz they will respond to you in the same manner. Likewise, if you are a GMA fan, don’t tell an ABS fan that their fave network sucks. However, from all my readings on different related news items, it seems more hecklers come from the side of ABS fans. I assume that’s becoz that segment come from the lowest strata of our society. According to AGB-NIELSEN, most preferred channel ang channel 2…then according uli sa AGB, most top ratings shows came from channel 7…PARANG KUMPLIKADO ATA
???……….dapat kung preferred channel and dos, di dapat sa kanila rin ang mga top rating shows, nalilito juice koh!

For those who think Philippine channels are of poor taste, go to the U.S. or anywhere else where you’ll be classified as second class citizens. You’re not worthy to be called Filipinos. Lea Salonga and other international artists who have high regard to Philippine show business despite its meager funds won’t be too proud of you.

ABS-CBN is # 1 nation wide kasi malinaw ang mga reception nila but technically GMA rules in NCR, so if given a chance that they will have both wider coverage, i guess talo pa rin ang GMA kasi some of viewers wants exagerated drama shows, plotted reality shows and corny games show, in short they want typical and louzy shows. cge nga, kayo ba sobra ba drama ng buhay nyo like what ABS-CBN is trying to imply to their viewers na sumasalamin sa buhay ng pilipino, and if you would compare the drama shows ang GMA though pan lasang pinoy pa rin, still my variety, while and ABS-CBN ayun, ang bida ay api, yayaman at gaganti… TYPICAL, iba iba lang ang artista. Truth is mas jologs ang ABS-CBN dahil ang target nila ay masa, totoo naman e w/c is good idea dahil here at Philippines mas marami ang average to poor people kesa sa sosyal, e sa GMA puro mataas na ang quality ng show nila from story to production kaya ayun talo sila…
